Sawadee Magazine – Thai Airways

Thai Airways got in touch with the office just prior to winter with an idea for a story they wanted to publish in their in-flight magazine featuring Sapporo and it’s unique culture that thrives all winter long. As a city buried in snow all winter, Sapporo doesn’t slow down one bit, it thrives! At first I hesitated as we were about to begin the busiest winter season in Niseko ever, but after the brief came back as ‘shoot it as you see it’… I couldn’t wait to start! I managed to squeeze a weekend in Sapporo in just before the winter truly took hold in Niseko and it was worth every minute!

On this shoot I had largely free reign on the creative angle and spend a day and evening crawling the bars and restaurants with well know local wine importer Mick Nippard. The last shoot of the evening was a little hazy but I was completely stoked with the results. It’s very rare as a photographer that you get asked to ‘just go and shoot it’ but Thai Airways were fantastic and I think the feature in Sawasdee looks amazing! Thank you for the opportunity to do what I love most!

Off the back of this feature story Thai Airways also ran a special on Niseko for which they used a large selection of shots from myself an my team at Niseko Photography. A special mention to Yasuyuki Shimanuki who is my primary photographer at Niseko Photography. His shots in this article make it pop!
