HOKKAIDO 6-DAY GUIDED PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

Hokkaido photography workshops are six-day adventures to Hokkaido’s most pristine areas with wildlife and incredible natural landscapes the focus of the trips. Aaron takes three Hokkaido workshops per year during winter, summer and autumn.

Share in Aaron’s insight and local knowledge gained from 15 years exploring Hokkaido and its secrets from its most remote corners.

For 6 days / 5 nights, you will learn photography tips and receive in-depth tuition while exploring paths less travelled to some of Hokkaido’s most incredible locations. Prices are inclusive of accommodation, some meals, transport and guiding.

1. Winter GUIDED Hokkaido Photography Workshop

Discover the hidden winter wilderness of Hokkaido with a photographic adventure to Central and Eastern Hokkaido. Capture the extremely rare Tancho Tsuru, Owashi eagle and other wildlife, while searching for the infamous sea-ice on the northern coastline of Hokkaido.

Join Aaron as your guide and draw on his experience and knowledge from almost 2 decades of exploring the Hokkaido landscape.

Professional photography tuition, guiding, accommodation and some meals included. Available from December to March (recommended tour dates are 15-20 February). Advanced bookings are essential.

Tancho Tsuru (Red Crested Crane), Owashi (Giant Eagle – biggest in the world), Whooper swans, Kitsune (Hokkaido fox), Shika (Hokkaido Deer), Ice floes and the frozen oceans

Itinerary

Spend 5 days (6 nights) touring around Eastern Hokkaido by van with Aaron learning about the wildlife and searching for the perfect shot in a frozen winter wonderland. Tour routes are flexible and are decided on a daily basis according to weather opportunities.

2. Autumn GUIDED Hokkaido Photography Workshop

Autumn in Hokkaido is the ultimate colour palette; bright reds and yellow foliage, contrasted but deep greens and blues of the waters and skies. Watch Hokkaido foxes and Hokkaido squirrels get ready for the winter; and if we’re so lucky, the flying squirrels (momonga) may even make an appearance!

Kitsune (Hokkaido Fox), Shika (Hokkaido Deer), Ezo Shima Risu (Hokkaido Chipmunk), Nihon Momonga (Japanese Dwarf Flying Squirrel), Vast forests and brilliant autumn foliage, Waterfalls, alpine ponds and smoking volcanic mountains.

Spend 5 days (6 nights) touring around Central Hokkaido by van with Aaron learning about the wildlife and searching for the peak of autumn colour. Tour routes are flexible and are decided on a daily basis according to weather opportunities.

3. Summer GUIDED Hokkaido Photography Workshop

Hokkaido summers are perfect for hiking, relaxing over a barbeque or swimming in many of the beautiful lakes across the island. Get up close and personal with mountain and lake sceneries, Hokkaido flora, and enjoy all the fresh produce and ocean catches. Sneak peeks of Ezo Brown Bears and their cubs getting to know their Hokkaido homes for the first time.

NISEKO HALF-DAY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Niseko photography workshops are available year round. These half-day workshops include an exploration to some of Niseko’s most photogenic locations with guidance and tuition from Aaron along the way.

Price: ¥55,000 / half-day. Max group size is 2 people. Advance bookings are essential.
